The impact of FDI on the sectoral structure of San Luis Potosí and El Bajío region (1998-2018)
Main Article Content
Resumen
This article looks at the globalization dynamic of the 21st century through Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), and the specific way in which the state of San Luis Potosi is inserted into this process, both within the national context and that of the El Bajio macro region. The growth in foreign capital for the transportation equipment industry created a local automotive specialization. This was accompanied by structural change which brought polarization of the manufacturing productive structure and a push towards advanced services, but with wage declines. This work explains how globalization has shaped the economic geography in Mexico in this century, together with its dynamisms and inequalities.
